In 2006, Cabarrus County law enforcement officials with Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office, Concord Police, Kannapolis Police, District Attorney's Office Department of Community Corrections and the U.S. Attorney's Office implemented the national PSN initiative through Project SAFE Cabarrus.

Since implementing the PSN initiative, over 95 individuals in the criminal justice system of Cabarrus County have been part of the Project SAFE Cabarrus program which identifies repeat offenders causing the most problems in the local communities. Project SAFE Cabarrus is designed send the message of "stop the crime or do the time" by providing referrals for life changing skills and outlook or through stiff sentencing. Service providers and resources in Cabarrus County are at the forefront of helping offenders make different choices through assessment, referral and follow-through.

The partnerships of Project SAFE Cabarrus presents a united front to stop violence in our communities by working as a team with our leadership, religious leaders, local businesses, community service and not-for profit agencies, members of the judicial system as well as our Federal, State and Local law enforcement agencies. Our message is clear: we will not tolerate violence in our community.
